What is TaxC? The Complete Guide

By Emmanuel Oguibe, Founder of TaxC · 11 min read · Updated August 2026

TaxC is a Nigerian tax platform built for the 2026 tax reforms. Its single job is to take the confusion that arrived with the four new tax laws and turn it into something clear, usable, and actionable, whether you are an individual filing personal income tax or a business owner dealing with company tax and payroll.

The tagline is deliberate: “Moving Nigerians from tax confusion to tax clarity.” Everything on the site: the free calculator, the PDF reports, the Tax Tracker, the Ada AI assistants, and TaxC for Teams exists to make that sentence true.

This page is the full picture: how TaxC started, what each product actually does, how the pricing works, and who it is for.

The problem TaxC was built to solve

In June 2025 four major tax reform acts were signed into law. They took effect on 1st January 2026. Overnight the old Personal Income Tax Act bands, the old company-tax thresholds, the old filing portals, and a lot of the old advice became outdated.

People suddenly needed answers to questions that had no simple, trustworthy source:

Traditional options were expensive accountants, slow WhatsApp groups, or blog posts that mixed old and new rules. TaxC was built as a third option: accurate, up-to-date tools that anyone can use without needing an accounting degree.

How TaxC started

The original idea was to connect people with human tax agents. That model failed for the usual reasons: high fees, slow replies, and answers that varied wildly from one agent to the next.

So the product pivoted. Instead of brokering human advice, TaxC became an AI-powered self-serve platform that knows the 2026 rules, can calculate real numbers, and can answer specific questions about a person’s or a company’s situation.

The logo is a cactus. A cactus survives in harsh, dry conditions. The metaphor is intentional: tax rules can feel dry and hostile; TaxC is meant to be a place where people can still find direction and keep growing.

What TaxC actually offers

TaxC is split into two clear layers: tools for individuals and a full suite for businesses.

Free personal tools

Ada Pro — ₦3,500 / month

Ada Pro is the deeper personal AI tax consultant. It can read uploaded images and PDFs, search the live web when needed, give tax-minimisation strategies that stay within the law, and parse bank statements. It is trained on the full Personal Income Tax Act rules as updated by the 2026 reforms and on practical Nigerian filing realities across the 36 states.

TaxC for Teams — ₦12,000 / month

The business suite. It includes:

Existing Ada Pro subscribers who upgrade to Teams automatically get the discounted rate of ₦8,500 / month. No code needed, the system detects it.

The 2026 rules TaxC is built on

Every calculation and every piece of AI guidance is anchored to the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 (effective 1st January 2026). The most important personal-income bands are:

First ₦800,000 of chargeable income → 0%

Next ₦2,200,000 → 15%

Next ₦9,000,000 → 18%

Next ₦13,000,000 → 21%

Next ₦25,000,000 → 23%

Above ₦49,200,000 total → 25%

Key deductions the platform knows: pension (8%), NHF (2.5%), NHIS, life insurance, mortgage interest, and rent relief (20% of annual rent, capped at ₦500,000).

On the company side, a business qualifies as a small company (and pays 0% CIT + 0% Development Levy) only if turnover is ≤ ₦100 million and fixed assets are ≤ ₦250 million. Professional services firms never qualify as small, regardless of size. Standard companies pay 30% CIT (reducible to 25% by Presidential Order) plus a 4% Development Levy on assessable profit.

How the AI assistants work

There are three versions of Ada:

All three are deliberately designed never to say “go and see a tax professional.” The product positioning is that the paid tiers are the professional layer for the questions they can answer. They also stay inside the law: every minimisation strategy is framed as legal optimisation, never as avoidance.

What TaxC is not

TaxC is not a substitute for a full-service accounting firm on complex multi-entity or cross-border structures. It is not a filing agent that submits returns on your behalf. It does not give legal advice in the formal sense. It is a clarity and calculation layer that gets the vast majority of everyday Nigerian tax questions right, quickly, and at a fraction of the traditional cost.

Where to start

  1. 1Run the free Personal Income Tax Calculator on the homepage and download the PDF report.
  2. 2Read the relevant free guides on the blog (TIN, filing, freelancers, TCC, legal tax reduction).
  3. 3If your questions are specific to your numbers or documents, try Ada Pro.
  4. 4If you run a company, open TaxC for Teams and put your turnover and payroll figures in.

Common questions

Is TaxC free?

The core personal tools (calculator, PDF report, basic tracker, free Ada) are free. Ada Pro and TaxC for Teams are paid.

Does it work for all 36 states?

Yes. Personal income tax is still administered by the State Internal Revenue Services, and the tools and guides account for that. Company tax sits with the federal Nigeria Revenue Service / Rev360.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancellation is currently handled by a simple request form that emails support. There is no long lock-in.

Who is behind TaxC?

Emmanuel Oguibe founded and still leads the product. The full story is on the mission page.
